- Low value items without electronic components can be discarded. Examples include used or broken office supplies, glassware, kitchenware, and clothing.
- E-Waste: Any unusable, broken or obsolete item with a PC board, electric cord, or electronic components is considered e-waste and should be dropped off at the Receiving Area. Contact receiving@ucmerced.edu for hours and instructions.
- Recyclable items: Items that can be recycled include used toner, cardboard, light bulbs, ballasts, batteries, metal scraps, food containers.
- Broken furniture: Notify the Furniture Department at furniture@ucmerced.edu for instructions regarding disposal.
- Capitalized assets or inventorial equipment shall not be discarded without notifying the Equipment Management department. Contact procurement@ucmerced.edu if you have capitalized equipment that needs to be dispositioned.
- Re-saleable items (with a current market value over $5) can be dropped off at the Receiving Area if you can no longer maintain them in your department. Contact receiving@ucmerced.edu for hours and instructions.
- Large items: For items with a footprint larger than 2 square feet, contact receiving@ucmerced.edu to make sure there is adequate room for temporary storage.
If you need assistance with moving items from your space to the Receiving Area, submit a Facilities Work Request.
