Details of Supply Chain/Shared Services Leadership Transitions

August 12, 2021

Greetings, colleagues,

As a follow-up to the Aug. 6 announcement of Josh Dubroff’s departure from UC Merced, the campus will move forward with the recruitment of a permanent Chief Procurement Officer. We will provide updates as they become available.

In the meantime, I am working with Josh and the supply chain and shared services teams to ensure a smooth transition of roles and responsibilities.

As part of our transition plan, we aim to identify an interim Chief Procurement Officer from within the Division to work with me and the procurement and contracting services staff to ensure UC Merced and its employees obtain the best value in procuring goods and services needed to fulfill the campus mission. Key areas within the scope of the interim Chief Procurement Officer include procurement, logistics, business contracts, equipment and surplus property management, strategic sourcing, and the procurement card program.

The Center of Business Services and Solutions, under the leadership of Executive Director Terri Harris, will report directly to me on an interim basis.

The interim CPO is anticipated to fill the role starting Sept. 1 and continue until the permanent CPO is hired and begins working at the university.

We are seeking nominations for the interim CPO position. Self-nominations will be accepted. To be considered, all nominees must submit a resume, a statement of interest, and a statement of commitment to diversity. Please send nominations and nomination materials to Gerry Elizondo at gelizondo@ucmerced.edu by COB Friday, Aug. 20.

Thank you to Josh for his years of exemplary service to UC Merced and thank you to everyone on the supply chain and shared services teams for their continued hard work and service.

If you have any questions, please contact me directly.

Best,

Kurt Schnier

Interim Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer
