Purchasing software can sometimes be a complex process. 

Please make sure you understand what type(s) of software you need, as well as what quantity of the software you need (licenses), and that the software you want is compatible with the hardware (computers, operating systems, and network(s)) you intend to utilize. 

Since some software purchases are non-returnable/non-refundable, it is particularly important to ensure that you are purchasing the correct software for your specific needs. 

When in doubt, talk to your associates in UC Merced’s Procurement & Contract Services department. There might be an existing University software purchasing agreement that you could utilize for your purchase.
