Answer:
UC Merced’s Procurement Card (P-Card) program is a Visa corporate credit card program issued through U.S. Bank and administered at UCM by the UC Merced P-Card Administrator.
Although a P-Card does in fact resemble and function like a personal credit card, there are significant differences:
- First, it is a charge or corporate procurement card, rather than a credit card.
- Next, full liability for all charges on a P-Card rests with UC Merced. As does responsibility for immediate payment to the bank for all transactions on the P-Card.
- Finally, while the P-Card is assigned by U.S. Bank to the employee and has the employee’s name on it, the card is in fact issued in the name of and on the behalf of, UC Merced.
Also, please note: The P-Card should not be confused with the University's U.S. Bank Visa Travel & Entertainment (T&E) card, which is intended for travel and entertainment business expenses and administered by Campus Travel Management.
