UC Merced has been recognized with its first-ever 2026 EPEAT Purchaser Award from the Global Electronics Council (GEC) for leadership in responsible electronics procurement.
The award reflects collaboration across Procurement, Sustainability, IT, and our supplier community to make sustainability part of everyday purchasing decisions. In 2025 alone, UC Merced’s sustainable electronics purchasing helped avoid 41,900+ kg of greenhouse gas emissions, conserve 421 kg of materials, and save 190,500+ kWh of energy.
UC Merced joins UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego Health as 2026 EPEAT Purchaser Award recipients, demonstrating how thoughtful procurement can advance more sustainable supply chains.
